Case Study: Dynamic Contractors & Electric Transforms a Townhome

At Dynamic Contractors & Electric, owner and operator Jeremy Miller is committed to transforming homes across Santa Cruz County with expert craftsmanship. We were brought in to assist a retired senior citizen living in a two-story townhome in need of a serious refresh. The project presented unique challenges, from the logistical hurdles of a tight stairwell to the critical need for an on-site, hands-on team that could accommodate a client living in her home during the remodel.

The Challenge: Outdated Living & Logistical Hurdles

The client's townhome suffered from a few key issues. The small, closed-off kitchen felt dated and didn't function well for her daily needs. The upstairs main bathroom was a standard, "track home" model with no personal touches.

Beyond the design, a major logistical challenge loomed: the narrow, two-story townhome stairwell. Our plan to install a custom quartz slab in the upstairs bathroom required careful planning and execution. We also had to ensure that at least one bathroom remained fully operational at all times.

The Solution: Hands-On Expertise & Client-Centric Design

1. A Kitchen Redesign for an Open-Concept Flow: We utilized our in-house designers to create custom 3D renderings for a new open-concept kitchen. The new design was tailored to the client’s specific needs and flow. As professional kitchen remodelers, our licensed electricians were able to expertly install modern electrical systems that enhanced usability, such as under-cabinet angled outlets to keep the backsplash seamless, and under-cabinet LED strip lighting in extruded aluminum channels with diffusing lenses to provide a warm, inviting glow.

2. A Custom Upstairs Bathroom with a Sloped Shower Pan: For the upstairs bathroom, we custom-built a sloped shower pan and installed a stunning custom quartz slab. The tight stairwell necessitated a creative solution: we carefully removed the existing stair railing to safely maneuver the large slab up to the second floor, demonstrating our commitment to safety and quality. We then re-installed a new stair railing immediately afterward to match the home’s new look.

3. On-Site Project Management & Daily Cleaning: Throughout the project, Jeremy maintained a highly hands-on approach. The project lead was on-site every day to check on progress, lay out the day's work for the team, and ensure the project stayed on schedule. Knowing the client was living in the house full-time, we also committed to daily cleaning to keep the space livable and comfortable. This commitment to open communication and collaboration is a cornerstone of our work.

The Results: On-Time, On-Budget, and Exceeding Expectations

Through careful planning and a commitment to quality, we successfully completed the project on time and on budget. The small, closed-off kitchen was transformed into a beautiful, open-concept space that the client now loves. The outdated bathroom was upgraded to a luxurious, custom-designed retreat, with all electrical components up to code. The result is a newly refreshed townhome with beautiful new SPC flooring throughout, ready for a new chapter of comfortable living.
